My name is Alex Krneta.
I am 13 years old. This year I am starting high school and If it is OK with you, I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. I love reading and learning, travelling and visiting museums, I love and am great in sailing (just two weeks ago I competed in Canada’s Mobility Cup for the first time and came in 6th!!)
I have Cerebral Palsy. A neurological disorder caused by brain injury that affects my balance and gait. I cannot walk without assistance, either provided by someone or an assistive device. While I use a walker to keep up with friends, I work hard every day to get strong and more independent, putting in hours and hours in stretching, working out, attending numerous physio and massage sessions.
Growing up, my mom raised me and continues to pour in me a belief that I can do anything I put my mind to, as long as want it bad enough. I am raised, just like my little brother, believing that all is possible with hard work, passion and dedication. I believe that there are and should be no limits to what we all can achieve. That includes all kids living with disabilities. As Easter Seals, an organization I am proud to be this year’s Ambassador, message shares: Facing challenges in life may be inevitable…but backing down is optional. The message I would love to share with everyone is that ALL kids, no matter what abilities or disabilities we may have, ALL of us can become #unstoppable!
