In the Autism community, there has been a large debate between Autism awareness and Autism acceptance. The truth is that the two go hand in hand. In order for the community to effectively serve Autistic individuals society must be made aware of the traits of Autism and the unique challenges that Autism presents. In order for teachers to effectively teach students, they must be aware of the differences in how children with Autism learn. In order for parents to have the best relationship with their parents, they must understand the way they think and why they do what they do.
That’s why at Hope Education Services one of our core values is that it is important to educate society on what Autism is and how it affects people.
“I would urge the public to show their support this week, to educate themselves on what it means to be autistic- the daily challenges people living with autism face and how that impacts on their ability to do things most people take for granted. By doing so, together we can build a more understanding and inclusive society that works for everyone –”
